Magical strengths and weaknesses
Magical strengths and weaknesses are about areas relating to performing magic. A character must have at least one strength and one weakness.
Examples of magical areas are:
- charms
- transfiguration
- enchantments
- jinxes
- hexes
- curses
- defensive magic
- offensive magic
- non-verbal (not relevant for students)
- legilimency (not relevant for students)
- occlumency (not relevant for students)
- light magic
- dark magic
- healing magic
These are areas in which magic is not performed and thus not valid strengths or weaknesses:
- flying (on brooms, carpets, or other magically flying objects)
- history of magic
- arithmancy
- ancient runes
- astronomy
- herbology
- divination *
- potions **
- muggle studies
- magical creatures
- magical games & sports
